Statement From Valley Surf Regarding Manteca FC
OCTOBER 10, 2022
Valley Surf has terminated its partnership with Manteca FC.
Both clubs will finish out the remainder of the fall season working under the current agreement.
Our collaboration with Manteca FC “MFC” has been beneficial, and we are proud of the opportunities we offered MFC players via the DP League and Surf Select programs.
These decisions are never easy to make, but in the end, we simply work differently. We “Surf” believe top facilities, more trainings, better coaches, and participation in high-quality, competitive matches on a consistent basis are essential to the development of our young players. We also believe clubs have a responsibility to do what is best for each individual player, not just teams or coaches. These are principles we simply could not agree on.
Any current Manteca FC players participating in Valley Surf’s DP League program will be allowed to finish out the Fall Season. Also, players participating in Surf Select will be allowed to attend Surf Nation’s National Tryout next year without any consequence while remaining with Manteca FC. No player will be asked to leave their current Manteca FC team as we wish to minimize the impact this partnership termination might cause.
Manteca FC families wishing to discuss what this means for their son/daughter should reach out to Roger Casci, Director of Coaching, Manteca FC. Valley Surf families shouldn’t notice any significant changes after this announcement, but please reach out to Darren Leslie (Boys) or Martin Reyes (Girls) if you have any questions.
We look forward to finishing the Fall Seasons strong and continuing to work to build a lasting presence in the region. Our goal is always to continue to find like-minded clubs, coaches, parents, and players who wish to be a part of something transformational and impactful. We thank Manteca FC’s BOD, coaches, parents, and players for the opportunity to work together and offer the best experiences and opportunities to everyone.
