John Doyle Joins Valley Surf

We are excited to announce that John Doyle will be joining our Valley Surf soccer staff. John Doyle is a Bay Area soccer icon with an impressive background in the sport. He has achieved success at the high school, club, college, Olympic, and professional levels, representing USA Soccer at the highest level.

Doyle’s soccer journey includes being a founding member and Team Captain of San Jose’s Major League Soccer franchise, the Clash, in 1996. He played in the first game in MLS history and was named the league’s first Defender of the Year. He continued to play a vital role for the team as it reclaimed the Earthquakes nickname and established itself as a San Jose sports institution.

In addition to his professional career, Doyle played college soccer at the University of San Francisco, where he was named an All-American. He also had stints with American and European club teams, including playing for the German first-division club FC Lokomotive Leipzig. Moreover, Doyle represented the USA National Team, earning fifty-three caps and starting in the 1990 FIFA World Cup. He also participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.

Doyle’s playing experience is unmatched in the Region and with his wealth of experience and expertise in the sport, John Doyle will undoubtedly bring valuable insights and guidance to our Valley Surf soccer club. We are thrilled to have him on board and look forward to the contributions he will make to our program.
